Holy Orders

Holy Orders

“I remind you to rekindle the gift of God that is within you through the laying of my hands.”                                                                                                                                                                           2 Timothy 1:6

The sacrament of Holy Orders is conferred by the laying on of hands followed by a solemn prayer of consecration asking God to grant the ordained the graces of the Holy Spirit required for his ministry. Ordination imprints an indelible sacramental character. (Catechism of the Catholic Church #1597)

“I’ve never wanted to be anything else but a priest, even from my earliest days as a young boy. For me the priesthood is not a job, but a way of life. It’s a calling, calling me out of myself to serve others. With that comes a deep satisfaction in knowing I am doing what God wants me to be doing. In my ministry I’ve known moments of deep joy for which I am great deeply grateful to God and all the people who have allowed me to be part of their lives.”
